Near North Board producing 'horrific results' says education minister

Ontario's Minister of Education Paul Calandra, today called the Near North Board of Education EQAO results "horrific."

These are the scores from province-wide assessments in Ontario schools that measure student achievement in reading, writing, and mathematics against the curriculum. These results are used to understand individual student progress, identify areas for improvement, and inform educators and the public about overall school and board performance.

Permits delay plans to use trailers to supplement North Bay shelter space

For the last eight months, Coun. Mark King has tried to acquire two trailers to house the homeless during the cold weather instead of taxpayers footing the bill for hotel rooms.

But that’s not going to happen. At least not this year.

The hold up has been securing building permits.

North Bay care home moves 142 residents into new building

A major milestone in the redevelopment of the Cassellholme long-term care facility in North Bay took place over the weekend.

Officials said 142 residents were moved into the new facility Nov. 30, which has been under construction for the past three years. The total budget for the project is estimated at $120 million.

City accepting student letters for Centennial Time Capsule
