The West Ferris Trojans showed that their victory over the defending NDA Senior Football champion Algonquin Barons last weekend was no fluke.
On Friday afternoon, the Trojans built up a 34-0 lead at halftime as they cruised to a 40-12 victory over the visiting St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears at West Ferris Secondary School.
Trojans quarterback Nick Corbeil threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another. Receiver Nick Gilchrist caught a pair of touchdown passes from Corbeil.

A 43-year-old North Bay man is facing multiple mischief charges after a police investigation into more than a dozen vandalism incidents in the city’s downtown core.
The North Bay Police Service said the man was responsible for spray-painting various properties on at least 13 separate occasions between April 29 and Sept. 14. Targets included city property, a TD Canada Trust location and Cheapskates Sporting Goods, with damage inflicted on storefronts, garbage cans, sidewalks, building walls and doors.
The police service credited effective video surveillance with helping to identify the accused.

Council hears call for community committee to look at facility namings

A former city manager of tourism and recreation is suggesting council consider creating a community-based committee, with city representation, for honorific facility namings.
Dave Saad presented to council on Tuesday night, saying such a committee was formed in the 1980s.
He applauds the city’s sponsorship policy, approved in early July, and says this would add to it.
