Condolences and memories flood in for former Nipissing MP Bob Wood

Former Nipissing MP Bob Wood is being remembered for his work in saving Canadian Forces Base North Bay, his dedication and passion in serving his riding and country and his love for his family, friends and the City of North Bay.

Wood died Saturday. He was 85.

“North Bay lost a real friend and champion,” Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli told The Nugget.

Wood was a strong advocate for understanding and awareness of Alzheimer’s. He was diagnosed in 2018.

Wood leaves behind his wife, Carol, and his three daughters — Sue-Lane Wood, Cory Wood and Bobbi-Jo Tilton. Wood also had an adopted daughter, Ambre Dawn.

Quints Museum welcomed thousands last year

Ed Valenti, board president, provided an update to council this week, noting they had several bus tours again, were open Saturday evenings in November for the Winter Market and more.

“In 2024 we had kind of a surprise year,” he says. “We had over 4,500 guests. You have to remember we’re only open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Fridays tend to be quieter. Saturday is our good day.”

In terms of the museum’s website, Valenti says they hope to continue to add to their 3D museum, which offers a 360-degree view of some of the Quints’ artifacts.

Admission to the museum is free.
