Nipissing University gets million dollar donation

A $1 million donation to Nipissing University from The Peacock Family Foundation will support student research, Indigenous initiatives, and Rare Dementia Support Canada.

John and Adrienne Peacock, who received honorary doctorates from Nipissing in 2023, are "passionate advocates for post-secondary education across Canada."

A very special group received medals in North Bay on Thursday

In a wonderful display at the Grande Event Centre in North Bay, many Second World War veterans from this area, received a medal from a MPP Vic Fedeli.

The Nipissing MPP presented several WWII Veterans with the King Charles III Coronation Medal during a ceremony at The Grande Event Centre on Thursday. The King Charles III Coronation Medal program is a visible and tangible way to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the country, a province, territory, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings great benefit to Canada.

Health Unit says public risk still low with measles

An update last Friday from the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, claims that there are no active cases of measles in the district, citing that the number of confirmed cases still sits at 11.

Officials continue to say there is no evidence of the virus spreading throughout the region, and no locations have been identified where the public could have been exposed.

They add the risk to the public remains low.
