The North Bay Gathering Place soup kitchen remains optimistic as it navigates financial challenges.
The 2024 Gathering Place Financial Statement, prepared by Kendall Sinclair Cowper Daigle & Houlden, pointed out concerns over financial losses over the last four years.
"As of June 30, 2024, the organization's current liabilities exceeded its total current assets by $673,389," the auditors stated.
"These conditions, along with other matters, indicate the existence of a material uncertainty that may cast doubt about the organization's ability to continue as a going concern. Our opinion is not modified with respect to this matter."
The city says it’s considering proposed amendments to encourage more housing options.
They include a proposed new incentive to the City Growth Community Improvement Plan.
A council committee moved the proposal forward Tuesday night.
Officials say the Additional Housing Unit (ADU) Grant would provide up to $25,000 to help property owners create more residential units within the urban settlement area.
